On April 5, 2019, the Blue Knights helped escort the remains of 17 unclaimed/unaccompanied veterans from the Kerrville VFW Post for burial at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio. These veterans had no family or friends and the Missing in America Project (MIAP) representatives stood as their Family to give them an honorable burial. The Blue Knights helped provide an escort, to take these veterans to their final resting place, along with the Patriot Guard Riders, American Legion Riders, The Thin Blue Line, Los Carnales, and other veteran groups. At the memorial ceremony, we learned the names of these 17 heroes some of which were World War II, Korean, and Vietnam veterans. We sometimes forget that we are free because of their service to this country and its people.
